A universal-joint cross with four bearing cups may look familiar while having the wrong retaining arrangement or installed span. Before ordering the 914/86202 spider kit listing, identify the joint position and the measurement convention used by the workshop and supplier. A dimension with no reference faces is difficult to compare.
Identify the retaining arrangement first
Dana Spicer's Measuring U-Joints guide separates outside snap-ring, inside snap-ring and other retention styles. Use that distinction to label your photographs and drawing. The appropriate span must be taken between the reference faces for the actual style; do not compare an overall width with a retaining-ring seating dimension.
Record the bearing-cup diameters on both axes and the corresponding spans. Do not assume all four cups have the same specification. Decide whether the yoke can be reused
