A crankshaft reference alone does not tell a workshop which bearing size to install. For a 371-2477 enquiry, obtain the engine identity, journal measurement report and previous repair history before selecting the crankshaft and bearings as a package. Do not assume an old bearing marking describes the dimensions of the replacement shaft.

Our 371-2477 crankshaft listing identifies the reference with a C7.1 engine application. The supplied photo shows the shaft's overall form, but has no readable dimension sheet or inspection report. Engine serial and configuration still need to be checked before a replacement is approved.

Figure 1. Visible journals and counterweights identify areas for inspection. The photograph cannot establish journal diameter, straightness, surface finish or crack-test results.

Ask for a measurement sheet, not only a standard-size claim

MAHLE's bearing fitting guidance bases oil-clearance assessment on measured bearing inside diameter and shaft diameter. The applicable engine repair specification must supply the acceptable dimensions and method. Generic clearance rules cannot replace the C7.1 service information for the specific engine.

Record Why it matters to the order
Main and connecting-rod journal diameters Record each journal separately, with units and measurement positions. Measurements in different directions and axial positions help the workshop assess taper and out-of-round against the applicable limits.
Previous grinding and bearing markings A shaft may have been repaired before. Reconcile markings with current measurements; do not choose bearings from an incomplete service history.
Thrust surfaces and end-float requirements Confirm which thrust components are required and whether the inspected surfaces satisfy the engine specification. Journal diameter alone does not settle thrust fit.
Condition and dimensional inspection Request identification of the shaft, inspection method and results for relevant damage, runout and surface condition. A polished appearance is not an acceptance report.

Compare reuse, authorised reconditioning and replacement

Scoring or bearing damage is a reason to investigate, not an automatic instruction to grind a shaft or buy a particular undersize. Reconditioning is an option only if the engine repair information permits it and a qualified workshop confirms a supported finished size and matching bearings. Some damage or configurations may rule this out.

Purchase route and condition Parts cost scope Workshop time Downtime / delivery factors
Reuse after the shaft passes all applicable checks. Bearings and associated service items specified by inspection. Measurement, cleaning and the required assembly checks. Completion depends on the workshop findings and availability of the correct bearing grade.
Recondition only where the repair specification permits it. Approved machining, inspection and bearings matched to the documented finished dimensions. Machining queue, repeat measurement and assembly work. An apparently lower shaft cost may be offset by machine-shop waiting time.
Replace when inspection rejects reuse or an approved repair is unavailable. Correct shaft, matched bearings, thrust items and any separately required attachments. Incoming inspection and the full specified engine repair work. Confirm supplied contents and dimensions before shipment; a shaft alone does not complete an engine repair.

State what is included in the crankshaft quotation

List the bare shaft, bearings, thrust components, gears or other attachments separately. Agree which existing attachments may be reused after inspection. Ask the workshop to investigate the cause of bearing damage and the condition of the lubrication system; a new shaft does not itself correct an unresolved oil-supply problem. Request protection for machined surfaces and an item-specific inspection record before dispatch.

Information to send with your enquiry

  • Engine model, serial number and installed crankshaft identification.
  • Journal-by-journal measurements, units, repair history and readable bearing markings.
  • Workshop findings and the applicable specification for any proposed reconditioning.
  • Requested shaft attachments, bearing and thrust-component scope; inspection evidence required.

Send the information, quantity and delivery destination to GUANGZHOU JIAJUE MACHINERY EQUIPMENT CO.,LTD. Request an itemised quotation identifying the offered reference, supplied contents, outstanding technical checks and confirmed shipping terms.
